Silvia Salvadori Bottega d’Arte Toscana, artist and cultural entrepreneur
The Guardian of Ancient Renaissance Techniques
Silvia Salvadori is a painter and an art conservator whose main creative mission is respecting accurately the Tuscan artistic tradition.
Founder of the so called Bottega d’Arte Toscana, with two studios located in Arezzo and Monte San Savino, she has dedicated years to the study as well as to the application of painting techniques from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, according to the principles included in the well-known “Libro dell’Arte” by Cennino Cennini, the ultimate manual for fourteenth
century painters.
In her activity, Silvia uses historical natural pigments, gold leaf, hand-prepared panels and authentic materials, faithfully recreating the artistic performance of the golden centuries of Italian art. Her works include not only philological reproductions of medieval and Renaissance masterpieces, but also some original panels inspired by sacred, symbolic, and naturalistic themes that interact with the ancient iconography using a contemporary approach.
Her activity is a rare and expert example of intellectual artistic craftsmanship, where technical precision, historical research and poetic inspiration come together in a single gesture. Each painting, panel, or altarpiece is the result of a deep knowledge of materials and processes: starting from the use of the egg tempera to the background’s chalk, up to gilding and engraving.
Her workshop located in Via Bicchieraia in Arezzo is open by appointment and offers an immersive experience for anyone wishing to explore the secrets of ancient painting.
The direct contact with the artist, the tools of the trade, the work in progress pieces and the technical explanations all contribute to create a special moment for the visitor.
In this space, time slows down to give space to a peaceful rhythm, made up of precise gestures, creative silence and living memory. The visit is particularly appreciated by art enthusiasts, cultural tourists, schools and curious travelers, who find here a tangible bridge between historical heritage and the present time.
