Silvia Salvadori Biography

Silvia Salvadori, a truly sophisticated artist, is a contemporary Lady who, with her bright powders, burins, brushes and icons, embodies the real spirit of medieval art.  In her shop in Arezzo, she is one of the few in Italy, if not the only one, to know how to use the ancient pictorial techniques handed down by Cennino Cennini in his work the “Book of Art” (1370-1440) and Giorgio Vasari in “Life of the most outstanding painters, sculptors and architects” (1550-1568).  Her works are inspired by medieval art, from the Gothic style and from the first Florentine and Sienese Renaissance,  In her works we can find a territory full of history and culture, capable of stirring wonder in the observer even today  Her sacred and profane characters, architectures, landscapes, as in Gothic painting, from the formal point of view, represent the extreme development of the decorative aspect, the extreme acutization of the exuberant and wavy line sensitivity for shiny color and a intense epidermic painting.  The atmospheres that are perceived in her works are like an Eden enchanted with fairy tales, idyllic and ethereal, giving space to the most extreme imagination, and we are catapulted like magic in chivalrous atmospheres.  The colors are individually soft, the use of gold knuckle gives intensity and volume to the prospective planes, the figures are drawn with a musical taste of the line and everything is predisposed in a vision of subtle lyricality.  Silvia's modernity is in her art, in her ability to experiment, in her wise search for knowledge now lost, which manages to revive in her tablished tables, embodying the "manner" of the Masters who have made great the history of art.  The artist and cultural entrepreneur Silvia Salvadori was born in 1978 in Sinalunga, in the province of Siena. Graduated at the Art Institute of Duccio di Buoninsegna in Siena, graduated in Archeology at the Faculty of Humanities and Philosophy at the University of Siena, in 2004 she received the European Master in Conservation and Management of Cultural Heritage.
In France she was a conservative museum and curator of exhibitions and collections at two museums in Normandy (Caen), where her work distinguished as an example of high quality, preparation and technical knowledge.  In 2006 she exhibited at Palazzo Comunale di Monte San Savino in Arezzo and at the Bishop's Palace of the City of Perugia. In 2007 she attended the conference on "The History of Medieval Painting" at the Rotary Club of Arezzo and the temporary exhibition at the Diocesan Museum in Arezzo on the occasion of the "The Way of the Sacred" Exhibition.  In Siena she worked at the Museum of Santa Maria della Scala, the Museum of the Duomo Opera and the Crypt of the Duomo. At Santa Maria della Scala she attended various exhibitions on the theme of the medieval painting of Siena between 1300 and 1400 ("Duccio, at the origins of Sienese painting" Siena, Museo Santa Maria della Scala, Palazzo Squarcialupi).  She also collaborated in the stages of the exhibition "Icilio Federico Joni and the culture of the false between eight hundred and twentieth century" (Siena, Santa Maria della Scala Museum, Palazzo  Squarcialupi). From this experience she has also started the idea of giving life to a Renaissance workshop where can express its creativity and skills.  Today her Tuscan Art Gallery is in Arezzo, also available on reservation, to be able to watch the artist at work. The works, passion and high professionalism of Silvia Salvadori have surpassed national boundaries, and have been appreciated both in Italy and abroad.
In 2013 she presented her works at the Museum of the Etruscan Academy of Cortona, in the exhibition "The Longobards treasure". From Ancient Masters to Contemporary Artists ", an exhibition set up at the Medicean Salon and devoted to the processing of gold and precious metals in the ancient world in comparison to contemporary craftsmanship.  There are many interviews she has dedicated to Italian and foreign magazines and industry websites. Two were also the virtual exhibitions for which she exhibited: the Galleria Saatchi Art in London and Studio PAMart in the Amalfi Coast.

It is a fruitful moment for Italian art. Young artists, whom we will hear more and more often about, are emerging. I meet many of them, I examine their works, I try to narrate their lives. I was surprised and delighted to learn about Silvia Salvadori's art. Silvia, with her obstinacy and chromatic power, makes understandable to all the structure and creation of colours techniques, such as the great masters of the 15th century did. The paintings and the line details revive the greatness of the Tuscan school. It seems Silvia brought with her, from her beloved Arezzo, the chromatic contrasts that made unique Cimabue's crucifix in the Basilica of San Domenico, and the imposing power of the relationship with human suffering and pain, which always teaches us something. Nowadays, her masterpieces are unique, as well as incredible for their elegance and refined trait, they retain an emotional ability, giving value to the passing of time, such as the precious powders and the explosive trait of her paintings themes that make themselves visible, that make themselves felt.
Silvia Salvadori's masterpieces speak, they raise powerful questions at the center of the soul, about the meaning of existence and the inner and spiritual quest. They lead us to a dreamlike descent which actually awakens in our soul the high feeling of blue extended infinitely, of emerald green eyes focused on a lost humanity which must reclaim its own era, raising, with the power of ruby red, a reaction and a definitive redeem that establishes, as in the destiny of great artists, the everlasting victory of man over death, in her masterpieces.
